Sheep to Shawl at West Fest
Overview
The Bartow History Museum invites you to Sheep to Shawl, a live demonstration with the Etowah Valley Hand Spinners Guild and the Peachtree Hand-spinners Guild. Watch the complete process of transforming raw fiber into yarn and, ultimately, a handcrafted shawl. Guild members will show how to clean, card, spin, and weave wool, giving visitors an up-close look at this traditional craft.
Guests can observe, ask questions, and learn the history and techniques of spinning fibers such as wool, cotton, and silk. Attendees also have a chance to win a handmade cotton shawl by Leslie Bronson in a raffle.
Admission:
Free for Bartow History Museum and Booth Western Art Museum members (check in at the BHM front desk; no registration required)
$16 for non-members (includes admission to Booth Museum’s West Fest)
Discover the artistry and history behind spinning and weaving, and see this timeless craft come to life!
